Dr. Dieter Kainz has been Managing Director of the HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER-group since 2010.

Christoph Kulterer has been the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the HASSLACHER Corporate Group from 2002 to 2010.

KR DI Herbert Kulterer led the company’s fortunes for more than 5 decades. Today he is active in the company as experienced advisor.

Jakob Haßlacher was the founder of the timber industry in Upper Carinthia.

A new century

2011 Take-over of the company „ÖKOHAUS Systembau“ in Stall/Mölltal and „Buchacher Holzleimbau“ in Hermagor.

The group now has 7 divisions at its disposal with around 900 employees.

2010 The HASSLACHER holding GmbH is the umbrella organisation for all companies in the HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER group.
2009 HASSLACHER takes a 35% share in the saw mill and shuttering board factory of the Slovenian timber industry company LIP BLED d.o.o.
2008 Takeover of Kogler Holz GmbH. Located at the third site in Liebenfels means the group reaches an annual saw capacity of 1,000,000 fm round timber.
2007 DI Herbert Kulterer passes the company to his sons after 50 years. Christoph Kulterer takes over the mainstay of the industrial operation, Stefan Kulterer the forestry.
2007 Expansion of power production with a second biomass cogeneration plant.
2006 Reconstruction of the new gluelam production with an annual production capacity of more than 65,000m³ in Sachsenburg.
2005 NORITEC gluelam production plant in Stall/Mölltal destroyed by a devastating fire.
2003 HASSLACHER Energie GmbH founded.
2001 100 years HASSLACHER and company management passed to Christoph Kulterer, the son.
2001 Entry into gluelam production and founding of NORITEC in Stall in Mölltal.
2000 HASSLACHER district heating supply established in the autumn. Sachsenburg and Möllbrücke are supplied with district heating.

The second generation

1998 Per 1. December, purchase of Gebrüder Feltrinelli Drauland Holzindustrie GmbH with two saw mills, in Arnoldstein and in St. Veit an der Glan. This creates the largest Carinthian saw mill group which also counts among the ten largest saw mill groups in Austria.
1998 On 9. April fire catastrophe – destruction of the saw shop and the staff facilities. Reconstruction using latest technology and increased capacity of more than 100 %.
1997 Foundation of the HASSLACHER Holzzentrum GesmbH and construction of a new timber market outlet.
1996 Equiping with chipper plant and flexible recut circular saw. Capacity approx. 130,000 fm / per annum in single shift operation.
1984-95 Continuous adaptation to new technologies, expansion of drying capacity, new building for planing operation, expansion of works site, new build of a large rack sorter and the round timber sorting plant.
1974 Paperboard factory in Spittal/Drau closed down. Expansion of the electricity works on the River Lieser.
1956-58 Jakob Haßlacher transfers his forest interests and his industrial plant in the Drau valley to his nephew. At the age of 22, DI Herbert Kulterer takes over the management of J. Hasslacher, Holzindustrie in Sachsenburg and the associated paperboard factory in Spittal on the Drau.
1952-54 Jakob Haßlacher acquires all shares in Brüder Hasslacher in Hermagor and passes this operation to his son Dr. Herbert Haßlacher.

The first fifty years

1942 Purchase of the Leykam paperboard factory Leykam in Spittal an der Drau with the intention to erect a fibreboard plant there. After the war expansion of the paperboard factory and erection of an electricity works.
1929-32 Jakob Haßlacher acquires large forest tracts near Oberdrauburg and in the Lesach valley from the erstwhile ownership of the Porcias.
1919 Jakob and Franz Haßlacher founded Brüder Hasslacher & Co in Hermagor and buy the Porcia estate Grünburg near Hermagor.
1917 Founding of “NORICA"- registered cooperative as sales organisation for more than 200 saw mills in Carinthia. As Chairman, Jakob Haßlacher managed the cooperative together with his brother Franz and led it to become of great importance in the then Austrian timber industry.
1914 Jakob Haßlacher Takes over the property and saw mill after the death of his father-in-law, and progressively expands the saw mill.
1901 Founding of Jakob Haßlacher OHG to operate a wood griding mill in Feistritz near Sachsenburg by the miner’s son Jakob Haßlacher (oldest son of 19 children) together with his father.
